Natural Setting

Some weeks ago, we got to visit the Nolan Trail as a class. I wasn't that excited for it since I had already been on the Nolan Trail and thought it was nice, but didn't particularly want to be there that day. However, I realized I had never been over to the other side of it where our class was meeting. I really like the scenery of the Lion's Bridge and the turtles in the water. One thing I did not previously like about the Nolan Trail was that people had told me I would see turtles (my favorite animal) and the one time I went, there were no turtles. Finally, I was able to see some turtles that day. Aside from the animals, I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the huge magnolia tree standing at the entrance of the trail. The magnolia is my favorite tree, and it brought back many fond memories of home since my family has a large magnolia in our backyard. Standing under it, I could smell the sweet scent of the flowers even though they weren't in full bloom anymore. The scent took me back to past summers when I would grab a book and sit under the tree in our backyard for hours until it was too dark to see outside and my dad would come out to tell me it was time to come in so I wouldn't strain my eyes in the dark. Who knew that a simple trip with a class of people I do not know would turn into an evening of reminiscing about home?
