(Not So) Lion’s Bridge Experience
Due to a stomach bug, I did not join everyone at the trail but I would like to talk about feeling the presence of God in nature. First, a little background. During the spring and summer of 2015, I decided to get in better shape so I picked up running. I always ran during the hottest time of the day, around 2 in the afternoon. It was a pretty hot summer here so running during that time was brutal. At the end of my run, I would go to this elementary school located on the James River a few blocks from my house. They have a pier that is open to the public for fishing. It is a very long pier so after my run, I would walk to the end of it. The closer you get to the end of the pier, the windier it gets. When I finally reach the end, the wind blows so hard it feels like I can fly. The sun is so close, it looks like it is within arm's distance. This is one of my favorite places to pray because I feel closest to God standing at the edge of that pier. I can practically feel His hand reaching down to touch me and that is when I get the most tranquil feeling. I go home quite often on the weekends and always make sure to go there and talk to God about the struggles I am facing as a freshman in college, both in and out of the classroom.
