Ancient and Medieval World
This semester, I also took a class called Ancient and Medieval World. It is basically a world history course. It has been absolutely fascinating learning about the different philosophers, leaders, as well as the progressions of the different types of religion. Throughout history, the overview of religion has changed several times in a variety of places. There have been numerous religious wars, such as the Crusades, Protestants versus Catholics, etc. My favorite thing I have learned about this class is learning about the different translations about what religion is to them. Martin Luther was interesting to learn about. He realized that what Catholics believed about being saved was not true. Doing good works, charity, being sorry for sins, and be moral are all human things. We are trying to be like Christ who was divine but all of these actions are not divine, just human actions. According to Luther, the only way to be saved is to have absolute faith in Christ. By doing those earthly actions, we are trying to pay God back for everything he has done for us but if we calculated everything God has done for us, we will never be able to pay him back for everything he has done. Faith alone is Christ is all we need to be saved.
