Phenomenology of Prayer

Phenomenology of Prayer

“What should we pray for?”

In this section of the book, the author talks about what we should pray for and how we should pray for that specific thing. It says that if we pray for others than we should do it in a way where we don’t compete with them, but we should pray good things upon them. I agree with this whole-heartedly. The God I pray to would not wish for me to pray evil things on others and would certainly not answer those prayers. This section also speaks of praying for goods. It says that if you are praying for goods than it needs to be because those goods would better you. My God would only answer prayers and only want me to pray for things that honor him. Praying for an xbox is in no way a need, or a good that betters you.
