Landscapes of the Sacred 2

December 4, 2014

In landscapes of the sacred by Belden Lane, the author describes time and it’s different ways of being perceived. Explaining the two Lane says, “[t]ime as chromos is perceived as the repetitive ticking of the clock, every second precisely equals to the next. But time as kairos is an unrepeatable moment when events of great significance come to be gathered in the life of an individual or a people” (41). Lanes definition separates genuine time and time that is used for no purpose. The clock of life ticks on and on, so it is important to spend time on memories you wish to remember. Without memories life is just a blank slate waiting to be filled with emotion and feelings.
