Lane - Landscapes of the Sacred - Axiom 3

1.      I want to take a look at the third axiom, “sacred place can be tred upon without being entered”. All semester, I’ve been contemplating on whether or not I agree with this statement. Now, I’m starting to think that I do. Just as Lane says, we sometimes do not even notice the sacred nature of a place until after we have walked through it outside of it itself. I began to see this with the prayer room where I spent the majority of my summer.

I found that I after I went from being there daily, to going weeks-on-end of not going due to the resumption of the collegiate lifestyle, it was easier to see it as a special place. Indeed, it has served as a special place to me, and has been deemed a sacred place in my heart – even though the entire location is just an old warehouse for high-level security electronics. It has now been restored to a new look, and provided me an outlet for rest and spiritual relocation over time. I believe that I have come to agree with Lane’s third axiom, due to my own personal experiences.
