Camino
December 1st
“It is said
that the “Camino” – the road or the way- lies directly under the Milky Way and
follows ley lines that reflect the energy from those start systems above it.”-
By Shirley MacLaine in The Camino. Page 4.
The Camino is a
historically Catholic pilgrimage to the sight on Saint James’ bones. Recently,
however, many pilgrims have come from all over the world with many different
faiths to go on this spiritual journey. When I was growing up my mom always
used to tell me God was too big for one religion. Meaning that good people can
come from anywhere as God shows himself in different ways to different people.
That’s why this quote really speaks to me. MacLaine didn’t
choose to walk
the trail for a traditional reason yet her experience was still influential on
her life. Long distance trial hiking is unique in that everyone comes for
different things yet receives a life altering experience. Sometimes it’s not hoe
you get somewhere but the journey that changes you. I believe this is the case
with long distance hiking.
