The Paris Attacks
I have pretty severe anxiety and this week has been especially bad. Is it because finals are around the corner? Nope. Is it because my grades are not where they should be? Negative. Is it because the holidays are coming up and I have not gotten gifts for everyone in my family? Wrong again. A few days ago, we all saw Paris fall victim to the terrorist attacks. Now, it is so hard to get on some sort of social media site without seeing posts about the terrorists attacks in Paris and the debate on letting refugees into the country. I just want to go on Facebook to see how my family is doing but it’s all covered up by Paris, refugees and the arguments of Islamic religion itself. By the time I’ve read a lot of the articles or posts by fellow classmates, I realized I wasted about an hour and never even checked on grandma. So what should we do about the refugees? Some people say we should keep them out because they might be terrorists and another 9/11 might happen. Others say we should let them in and I agree with that. Just take a moment to think about your hometown being under attack with bombs. You need to go somewhere else to be safe. Now can you imagine going somewhere else but they don’t let you in because they see you are from (insert hometown name here) and are afraid you are part of that attack? That would be absolutely devastating. You just want to find protection for your family and yourself. This really is a tough decision and I understand that but how can we turn away people in need?
