Kasey Frazier The Phenomenology of Prayer: Introduction (Religion without Prayer)
I could not imagine religion without prayer. In my opinion that is like college without any classes. Prayer is essential to religion it keeps the worshippers connected to the one they worship. If prayer did not exist I believe religions would die out. People will not believe in something they feel they cannot personally connect to. Prayer is the heart of religions. People also like to escape reality and prayer is the quickest to do so. Venting their problems asking for forgiveness helps people feel better about themselves. In older times the church seemed to be just as influential as government systems. For a while there was no separation of church and state. This shows how passionate people were about religion and how connecting to someone above them or beyond their imagination was a necessity. I also asked myself would I believe in Christianity if I did not have a way to connect with God. I said yes I still would. This is only because it would be so tough saying I would not believe after I have been for my whole life. In theory, looking from an outside perspective I would not see religion continuing long if prayer was took out of the equation in all forms.
