Flow?
Talking about flow earlier in the week for class really intrigued my interests on what exactly this meant. It seems to be taken as a very generalized term, however this leaves plenty of room for interpretation. The flow is blocking out any physical or emotional feels of the actual hike or experience and time. While the rest of your mind is centered upon the energy constituted by the place(s) and other surroundings. It creates a dialogue or conversation with the sacred place, hence spiritual ramblings. This spiritual rambling induces flow and a sort of action upon action without any subconscious interference or superior control. I sort of analyzed this as an "autopilot" feeling of awareness of doing BUT "not aware of being aware." As Redick said in class, this pertains to there being no reflection. Reflection in the sense that you are never considering the possibilities of "oh, my legs ache right now," or "there could be a snake down the trail," etc. This all forms a certain connection between flow and kenosis. Kenosis is the self emptying of one's self and always realizing the surroundings without the physical mess involved. All of this comes back to the point of exegesis. Exegesis is the in depth analysis or detailing of a specific text. When hiking or going upon a spiritual journey, one truly appreciates building and constructing their life story and this requires being able to exegete all of the little things one is currently experiencing. LIFE STORY CONSTRUCTION IS ESSENTIAL TO CREATING MEANING. This is the reason most people even begin a spiritual journey of any kind; for the meaning in it and to discover their person meaning. All of this kenosis and flow open up reinterpretation of one's life story to new open-wide possibilities. In order to construct one's life story they must dig in and discover the plot in order to completely feel the change and the flow. The projection of your own most possibilities in addition to interpreting your life story is what keeps the flow moving and changing. This all relates to the distanciation from real to itself; being able to imagine or think about it and create the distanced profane space required. This all allows for one to be distanced from the trapped or real in order to recast ourselves without the worldly everyday nonsense.
